First Christmas of World War I in 1914. Each tin had varying contents depending on its recipient. While every tin contained a Christmas card from Princess Mary and her portrait photo, some tins carried a pipe and pipe tobacco, 20 cigarettes and a lighter. Younger soldiers or non-smokers had sweets plus writing materials and a pencil fashion from a Lee Enfield bullet case, bearing Princess Mary's monogram. This is a very unusual collector's item. 5" l x 3 1/2" w x 1 1/4" h
