This a Royal Doulton "Jimmy Durante" vintage jug. It was first introduced in 1983 and retired in 1988. Item number D 6708. It's from the Celebrity collection. It was designed by David B. Biggs. Royal Doulton created a finely detailed character jug that pays tribute to the most famous 20th Century comedian, writer, actor and singer "Jimmy Francis Durante". Jimmy Durante was an iconic figure. His phrases were one of a kind "Goodnight Mrs. Calabash Wherever You Are". Jimmy Durante would love to make people laugh. History shows that he contributed many songs and movies during his life span. Everyone recognized him by his piano playing, hat and fancy way of dressing and his famous big nose. The jug handle has the keys of his famous piano. This is a handmade and hand decorated character jug which was beautifully sculpted by David B. Biggs. It is 7.5" tall, 7" wide and 6" deep. The jug is in excellent condition. No chips, cracks, or scratches. Last known retail price is $175. No original box
